Have you ever watched a tarantula molting before? My family and I were watching America's Funniest Videos Animal Edition and they showed us a video of a big, furry spider molting. Normally, I am not too fond of spider content, but for whatever reason, I couldn't stop watching this baby spider push themselves out of their bodies and into an entirely new existence.

I wondered if they experience pain as their bodies grow too large for their exoskeletons to contain.

I wondered if they experience panic or fear as they feel their size pushing them out of their too-small vessels.

Perhaps there is peace… A sense of divine purpose takes over, the spider trusting the inevitability of what is happening.

The process is pretty incredible to watch. An entire being, birthing themselves all over again. Rebirthed of themselves. A whole new baby, a whole new body.

And yet! The same spirit within.

A little older, a little wiser, a little more clear in their purpose. Perhaps I am projecting onto the spiders now. lol.

Apparently tarantulas repeat this process every !! 6 !! months !!

UHHH-mazing.

Which also makes me wonder whether they get used to the whole cracking-yourself-out-of your-exoskeleton-through-your-head thing… Which lead me to wonder…whether I've ever felt “used to it” when another rebirth or awakening pops up on my journey. ((the answer is no lol))

While watching that show, Sibling Spider gave me the gift of permission to be reborn as often as I need to be, and they asked me to share this gift with you, too.

Something I find to be common with human people is physical discomfort during spiritual awakening

Our bodies feel like they can't contain the spirit, the consciousness, expanding within us.

It can feel overwhelming, uncomfortable, panic-inducing, even painful. Sometimes we might feel like we are being pulled in many directions at once (it can feel very literal and physical or can manifest as the struggle to focus).

The discomfort of spiritual awakenings can also show up as cold or flu-like symptoms, as belly aches, or as headaches.

Though unpleasant (and sometimes even a little scary), this discomfort is communicating to us that a change is happening. Not even that a change is near. The change is presently in motion.

Like molting, spiritual awakenings will happen time and time again throughout our lifetimes. Perhaps these experiences are our moltings.

Shedding the selves who may have at one time protected us, who we may at one time have loved dearly (or at the present very much still). Our feelings about the selves we are shedding are usually a complicated mix of relief, gratitude, grief, and longing.

And that's okay. It's okay to have mixed emotions about the selves we leave behind, even about the selves we have yet to become.

So I thank you, Sibling Tarantula, our eight-legged furry friend, for showing us that we can be reborn as many times as we need to be; that life will always begin again.

The spirits ask me to say: “be gentle and patient with yourself, be tender and affectionate with your body."

If you are desiring of support during your Spiritual Awakenings and Rebirths, I invite you to receive the support of myself and the Good Spirits during a Spiritual Consultation.

My books are now open for a very limited number of Spiritual Consultations for the beginning of 2024. January is now fully booked - be sure to scoop up your Feb or March appointments while you can.

I look forward to holding space for you and your spirits.
