In this episode, we review Erotic Tarot Intimate Intuition illustrated by Sophie Birkin.
My thoughts:
I appreciate the queer, disabled, and fat disability in this deck
The minor arcana doesn’t do it for me. I think it’s boring and lacks story. I need more imagery, personally, from my tarot decks.
Too many of the images of dark skin women look like stereotyped caricature rather than portraits.
While I love decks with lots of BIPOC representation, I get a lil bit of the black-fishing/brown-fishing ick from an English white cis woman illustrating a deck like this. There are so many incredible queer and BIPOC artists who, if given the opportunity by publishers, could create some incredible decks and I’d rather see queer and BIPOC folks representations of themselves thru art than a white woman’s observation of queer and BIPOC folks thru her art.
