A Ritual for Deaths of the Self
I have spent every day since August dreaming, thinking, creating and planning for the arrival of the Dead. Digging deep into my ancestral spiritual practices, rejuvenating my relationship with consistency and dedication, earning my place at the feet of larger spirits who have been calling me for many years. More spirits, than I anticipated, actually. More creative and inspired sacrifice than I imagined, naturally.
Last Friday, I began having visions of skulls being plucked from my body, extracted one by one and collected by a ancient spirit with the face of skull.
This week that leads us to a Blue Full Moon on All Hallows Eve has pushed me to prepare beyond the return of the dead and shift into activating the deaths of the self.
My guides offered to me a potent ritual bath for these deaths of the self. A clearing that was both Scorpio-deep and Cancer-gentle. Removing from me the things that at times have felt impossible to reach.
After experiencing the blessings of this ritual, my spirits granted permission for me to share it with the community. They asked that I encourage those reading to use this bath on the full moon this Saturday, October 31st. Enjoy.
A RITUAL BATH FOR DEATHS OF THE SELF
Tools:
Yerba Buena
Holy Basil
Garden SageThyme
White Flower Petals from your Altar
Cascarilla
Epsom Salt or Natural Sea Salt
A pot for boiling
A White Candle**Herbs can be dried or fresh
Bath Ritual:
As always: Ground, Cleanse and Protect yourself before doing any sort of ritual magic.
Call in your spirits, ancestors, guides and deities to assist you. You may call the all in, or you may prefer to call in specific spirits. Trust yourself in this process.
Take the pot and fill it with cool tap water. Toss in your herbs and bring to a boil. Stand over the water, repeat the following incantation:
Divine Waters of the Spirit Realm, Divine Plants of the Earth,
Divine Fire of the Hearth at my Hands, Divine Air of my Breathe,Spirits around me wise and well,
remove from me the skeletons you see fit to purge.
Collect these skulls and bones and carry them to the underworld,
where they may finally lay to rest.
Expel the hauntings and the ghosts within me, so that I am reborn again.
Repeat the incantation until the boil is rolling high and hot. I encourage you to add in your specific petition to the incantation, as well. Once boiling, reduce to a simmer and cover with a snug lid. Allow the herbs to simmer for 45 minutes.
Fill up your bathtub with lukewarm water. As it fills, sprinkle a bit of cascarilla in the tub, then sprinkle in epsom or sea salt liberally. Once your tub is full, add your herbal brew to the water. You may strain the herbs or pour them in with the potion - it's up to you. Be sure to repeat the incantation as you move through this entire process.
Light a white candle next to the tub, then enter the bath. Begin by massaging the waters into your toes and your feet. Work your way up your calves, knees, hips, all the way up to neck. Be sure to give your hands and fingers attention, too. Once you reach the neck, massage the waters into it, then plug your nose and close your eyes and put your whole head under the bath water. Bring your face out just enough to see and breath, but keep your head as submerged as possible. Massage the bath into your face, your cheeks, your jaw, your third eye, your temples, your ears, your crown. Massage your scalp and really take time with your scalp and head.
Be generous with the affections you are giving to yourself.
Once your body is massaged from toes to crown, it's time for the fun part. While speaking your incantation out loud (or focusing on your intention or a sigil or symbol or color for your intention), give yourself some aquatic pleasure! Inducing orgasm is what activates this spell fully. Orgasm is an ultimate release and through this ritual, we are releasing the parts of ourselves we have struggled to let go of. Spend some time on giving yourself good love. And that love you give to yourself culminating in the magic of the orgasm, the sweetest little death.
If masturbation is not something that is comfortable for you - fear not! Masturbation and orgasm are not the only way to create a great release. The point of this is honoring yourself. Giving love to yourself. And releasing that love of yourself as an offering to the divinity within you.
When you are ready, drain the bath entirely before getting out. Use this time to think about your intentions, to feel the vibrations of the orgasm you just gave yourself, to feel excited about what has been set into motion through this spell.
Exit the tub, refreshed, renewed, reborn. Carry that vibration on with you for good.
So it is. So mote it be. Amen.
