The Lord's Prayer is often the first prayer Catholic children learn, and is one that I personally had the hardest time aligning with. That is, until the spirits offered me insight into each line of the prayer.

This offering is an invitation for you to explore what exists in between the lines of this prayer, and to find intimacy with the true nature of Christ.

To see him more clearly is also to see the way the Churches named in his honor are absolutely not what he wanted or asked for.

A socialist, healer, diviner, political agitator. Lover of the poor, the sex workers, the sick, the abandoned, the forsaken, and forgotten. May his true image assist us in the long road to healing this planet and their inhabitants.

I hope you receive from this what you need.

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, Who Art in Heaven

Hallowed Be Thy Name

Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will Be Done

On Earth as it is in Heaven

Give Us this Day our Daily Bread

and Forgive Us our Trespasses as We Forgive Those who Trespass Against Us

Lead Us not into Temptation, but deliver Us from Evil

Amen

Our Father, Who Art in Heaven

As an espiritista, I believe it is important that we identify which spirits and energies we are intending to connect with. It is a responsible spiritual practice to be clear about this, rather than opening ourselves up to any entity or energy desiring attention.

This line is the invoking of the Spirit of the Creator, the Source of All Creation, Creation of Humanity, Creation of Nature, Creation of All Sentient Beings, Creation of Our Ideas.

This is Wands Energy, Magician Energy, Divine Masculine (Action) rather than Divine Feminine (Reception)

We are asking this energy to grant us what we need to survive and thrive and live a life in alignment with the highest good.

Hallowed Be Thy Name

This is acknowledging your respect for this Supreme Being, all of their powers, all of their mysteries.

This is acknowledging that there are forces greater than humanity, and that this Force exists within us, moves through us, is all around us.

This is also showing reverence for the true name of the source of creation (whatever that mysterious name may be - in Catholicism the “true” name of God is YHWH).

Lead Us not into Temptation, but deliver Us from Evil

Temptation and evil is not about Queerness, sexuality, sexual "promiscuity" or "deviance" or like 99% of the other shit that's been fed to us by Clergy and lay teachers and other patriarchal interpreters of the word of God.

Temptation and Evil are what pull us away from that which keeps us in alignment with our highest callings, our highest selves: the version of ourself that not only glorified the spirit within us, but the spirits around us too.

By asking the Divine to lead us not into temptation, we are asking them to keep us focused on what really matters, on what's good for us. Lead us not to the things that distract us from our divine purposes. Lead us not into the indulgences that draw us away from our heavenly work on earth.

Lead us not into our cycles of addiction, of abuse of self, abuse of others. Lead us away from the distractions of social media, of coveting what others have or present to have. Lead us away from dangerous ideologies like white supremacy, colonialism, capitalism, individualism, patriarchy. Lead us away from thinking that we are absolved of involvement in the fight against institutions of oppression. Lead us away from turning our head and lead us to speaking up when we witness abuse or harm being caused, especially if we are in a position of power or platform.

At the end of the day, we are only human. We can't expect ourselves to be perfect examples, nor does the Supreme Being expect us to be. So we ask that in the times we are led astray, whether be delicious or dangerous distraction, that we may quickly be brought back to our center, to our truth.

Amen.

And So It Is.

So Mote It Be. As I will it, it is so.

Ase.

As Above, So Below.

No Regrets.

There is potency and power in repetition, especially when we apply it to our mantras, petitions and prayers.

Every good prayer and spell needs a solid conclusion. A word (or words) that signal that the recitation is done, and that the spirits must now go forth and carry out the petition. Using the same word or phrase to close every prayer and petition adds an extra magical cherry on top as you release your words to the Divine.

Reflection Questions

The Lord's prayer is a way to call in your practical and spiritual basic needs every day. When we repeat the exact words of a prayer every single day, its power and potency amplifies with every repetition.

If you have ever had a session or attended a workshop with me, you have likely noticed that I use the same prayers to open and close the circle every time. I use those same prayers to open and close my private/personal spiritual circles as well.

What are the basic practical and material needs that you would like to call in each day?

What are the basic spiritual needs that you would like to call in each day?

When I say basic, I want you to think of your thriving self, not your survival mode self. What is basic to you thriving in this life?

What are the daily basic needs of the community you in service to?

What hopes do you have for the grater good of creation?

Take some time to answer these questions. Use tarot, other divination, and the assistance of your spirits.

Once you have finished answering, put together a daily prayer that helps you to call in what you have identified through the questions.
