In the depths of winter, on the full moon of the Jewish month of Shvat, we celebrate Tu B'Shvat, the "New Year for the Trees". A time of creation, renewal and connectivity, through celebrating the earthly realm and the mystical Tree of Life, Shvat reminds us that growth begins in underground root systems and mycelial networks, in winter, in hibernation... So let's see this as an excuse to gather together in a Moonshadows Jewiches Zoom on January 25th, Tu B'Shvat 2024.
This will be an informal opportunity to introduce ourselves and join together in a communal ancestral prayer, led by member Abby Nocon. If you wish, please bring a fruit of your choosing (to bless, to eat).
Open to all folks of Jewish ancestry - be it recent or distant - who wish to study/ practice the magic & mysticism of Jewish ancestral ritual in a space facilitated by and centered around queer, anti/non-Zionist Jewish seeking.
Abby is creative strategist, writer and Jewish scholar / ritualist currently interested in creative practices that revive ancient knowledge. She has a background in storytelling, digital consulting and poetic personal writing. This year she is launching Public Diary, a femme-disabled led initiative which explores the longing artist, creative practice and the magical connection between source material, author and reader.
