What is Espiritismo?
Espiritismo Cruzao (or Cruzado) is an “open” spiritual tradition, birthed in the Caribbean, born from the crossing of Kardecian Spiritism, Indigenous African & Indigenous Taino Spiritual Practices, and folk Catholicism. To put it very simply, Espiritismo is the belief that spirits, gods, and other incorporeal entities have influence over the mental, physical, spiritual, and financial health of the living - for better or for worse. Through the practices of Espiritismo, we the living begin to commune and communicate with the spirits. We cultivate real relationships with the spirits who support us and protect us in our spiritual, ethical, and earthly advancement.
Yes, the Good Spirits can (and will) help us pursue our destinies, fulfill our dreams and desires. However, this doesn't happen just because we ask for it to be so. The blessings of the Spirits come from our consistent participation. Being willing to listen to their wisdom, and to take action accordingly. While so much of the transformation we experience through the Spirits is centered around achieving our personal dreams & goals, it is equal part altruism and community building & care.
Espiritismo Cruzao is not just for those who desire to develop their mediumship - whether it’s to serve themselves, or to serve others. Yes, that is an incredible part of this praxis.
Espiritismo is for anyone who desires to hold Love, Faith, and Charity at the center of their spiritual development.
Espiritismo is for anyone who values their own well-being, and who hold the well-being of their community, of their planet, close to their hearts as well.
Espiritismo is for anyone who desires to make the world a better place for themselves and for others.
When I first launched my business, my focus was on psychic and mediumship readings and development in as non-denominational a way as I could muster. At the end of the day, the principles of Espiritismo that were infused into my work could not be ignored. They desired to be front and center of this work. The fundamental tenants of Espiritismo - Love, Faith, and Charity - asked to be seen and known. To be clearly communicated and integrated as essential parts of the way I taught psychic and mediumship development.
Rooting in people, place, and culture is one of the most important things, IMHO, we can look for when seeking spiritual mentors and teachers. As I grew in my professional praxis, the Good Spirits around me encouraged me to not be afraid to talk about the who, what, why, and where behind the methods and techniques I shared.
You could go to any psychic or mediumship development teacher or course and probably have a wonderful experience. What you receive from Espiritismo Cruzado - whether through a consultation, a class, or by participating in Into the Veil - is different, is deeper. You receive connection - to your spirit guides, your ancestors, your destiny. You receive the tools to maintain hope and faith in a world that seeks to strip you of these things. You receive the determination that not only is a better world possible, but it is promise, and you, and your unique gifts and interests, play a crucial role in bringing about a kinder, gentler, more holistic world.
Your goal might not be to be a professional medium - and that’s okay. Whether you are an artist, a hairstylist, an actor, an activist, a mathematician, or other, Espiritismo ((and the Good Spirits who walk with you)) has a way of bringing depth, comfort, compassion, purpose, and motivation into your life, into your world.
