sometimes Motherhood feels like drowning

I long to reach the Sun at the surface

miles of blue water stretch before me

my arms make feeble attempts to break through

to touch the sky once again

but then, as I struggle,

the spirits surround me

they remind me

that I am a Mermaid

and they teach me

once again

how to breathe

Motherhood is the single most rewarding thing I've ever had experienced. It's also the most challenging, exhausting, physically demanding, and expensive.

No one should ever have birthing or parenthood forced upon them.

Late stage capitalism (and their daddy, white supremacy) depends on birthing people - especially Black, Brown, and marginalized people - to continue producing future workers to exploit for labor.

As the working class becomes less interested in having children, the government will continue to find ways to feed their beasts (like overturning Roe v Wade, and whatever domino effect may follow).

Parties and politicians will not protect us.

We have to take care of ourselves; we have to take care of one another.
